A whole lot of Pretty Faces! Best of 2015 highlights // Lia Giannotti Photography Portraits

Hi again! As some of you saw, yesterday I launched my Best of 2015 highlights wedding and engagements reel. If you missed it, you can find it here! I want to also acknowledge my other passion besides photographing couples in love. That is the portrait side of photographing babies, children and families.

I started photographing portraits long before I started with weddings. I get asked very often, "which do you like photographing more? Children or weddings?" And I always respond the same way... "I love them both equally, but in different ways. They both fulfill me differently." Many people think they're two completely different genres, and I should choose one or the other.  I couldn't disagree more, because photographing one helps me to photograph the other. For example, photographing children for as long as I have, has taught me the art of anticipation, which is so important when photographing weddings. It's also taught me patience, which, well, comes in handy no matter what. ;) I honestly just have a place in my heart for both, and I don't plan on that changing, or giving up one for the other. Photographing a variety babies, children, families, weddings...it keeps it all fun, and keeps me from getting bored. I can honestly say, I love when I have to pick up my camera for a shoot. I love to get my baby fix, and love, love, love, watching these babies and children grow even more, and watching their personalities develop. And it truly comes full circle, when my wedding clients begin their family, and I can watch their babies grow. It just builds such a connection.  It's the best!

Being behind the camera has always been my happy place, but being able to be a part of people's stories, and documenting these moments takes it to a whole new level. To all of my amazing "clients", (we all know we're friends now), thank you from the bottom of this photographers heart, for trusting me with capturing your families big moments and memories. It truly means so much, that of all the people you could trust to do this, you've chosen me to do so. Wishing everyone an amazing 2016, full of  love, happiness, wonderful memories, and more smiles for all!  <3

Now, sit back, and enjoy... and p.s. there's a lot of images here, because well, I just couldn't narrow it down any further. Images are displayed in no particular order, so scroll through, and find yourself. :)

A whole lot of LOVE! Best of 2015 highlights // Lia Giannotti Photography Weddings & Engagements

So, here it is. I pondered whether I was going to put together a highlight reel this year, but I just had to. Because this year was just THAT good! I finish every year as my best year yet, and this year continues in much the same way. I've spent a few hours going through all of my wedding and portrait session galleries, and am left feeling so fulfilled. Looking through these images brings me completely back. No only do I relive the day I took them, but I'm smiling all over again at the amazing people in them. I can go on and on about how much I love this "job" of mine, but it's because of every person in these images who trust me to capture these moments for them, that I am able to continue to pursue my passion. Being behind the camera has always been my happy place, but being able to be a part of people's stories, and documenting these moments takes it to a whole new level. To all of my amazing "clients", (we all know we're friends now), thank you from the bottom of this photographers heart, for trusting me with capturing your love. It makes me smile, it makes me giddy, and well, it just makes me happy! Wishing everyone an amazing 2016, full of more love, more happiness, and more smiles for all!  <3

Lindsey & Matt are Married // A Beautiful, Summer, Metro Detroit Wedding, July 25, 2015

Let me take you back to a day this summer, where the temperature reached 92 degrees, and the heat index had to be rounding out to 100. The sun was bursting through the sky the day Matt & Lindsey said their I-do's. I've been smiling while putting these photos together for their blog. What I love most is all of the little stolen moments and glances they kept giving each other throughout the whole day. They're some of my favorites to date.

So let's head on back to July, and check out a few of my favorites from Matt & Lindsey's gorgeous day. I can feel the warmth already. ;)

Matt + Kelli // Vinology Wine Bar & Restaurant, Ann Arbor, MI Wedding Photography, July 2, 2015

I'm  not quite sure where to begin when it comes to Matt & Kelli. Theirs is a love story that has played out like a true fairy tale, and on July 2nd, they got their beautiful happily ever after.

Unlike most couples whose weddings I've photographed, I've been able to watch Matt & Kelli's story unfold, right from the beginning. Kelli & I follow each other's Instagram pages, and I noticed at one point she was starting to hint at a Mr. Right. Then one day, the official relationship status came, and shortly after that, I watched them traveling back and forth from the States to Japan, (where Matt has been stationed), just so they could see each other. We all, and I mean all, sat on the edge of our seats watching this beautiful love story develop.

Matt proposed to Kelli at the top of the Tokyo Skytree Tower in Japan on one of her trips. Kelli came home and we talked wedding talk. That was it. I was hooked. You mean, I get to photograph this amazing couple's wedding? Talk about flattered, but more than ever,  inspired. Nothing inspires me more than true love, and couples who can't get enough of each other, and these two are it!

Their day was personal, intimate, surrounded by their 50 closest family and friends. The people in their lives they couldn't imagine their wedding without. It was filled to the brim with laughter, a few tears, and so much happiness, that everyone's heart was bursting. My own included. Here's a look at the day they waited their whole lives for...

Eric + Kathleen // Our Lady of the Scapular Church, Silver Shores, Wyandotte, MI Wedding Photography June 27, 2015

Eric & Kathleen's wedding day was definitely one for the record books. Mother Nature woke up that morning with a plan, and that was to pour buckets the entire day. However, and that's a big however, because the two of them didn't let one drop get in the way of their smiles, love and happiness. I have so much admiration for the way they handled the weather. I mean, to some, it could have completely flattened them, but not these two. They woke up that morning knowing they'd be marrying their best friend, and nothing was going to get in the way of their happily ever after...

Out of the rain, comes amazing opportunities.  It doesn't happen often when I can  "play" in the rain. At the end of the night, I asked them if we could take some shots outside, and they completely humored me and ran out the door behind me. They spent some beautiful moments dancing in the rain, and it was magical

Here's a little bit of the loveliness that was Eric & Kathleen's beautiful day...
