Kayla + Craig // Down on the Family Farm; A Country Engagement Session

I met up with Kayla and Craig right before the new year, on what had to be one of the coldest and windiest days we had had (up until that point). It was also one of the most brilliantly sunny and gorgeous days as well. But cold! Oh, so blistery cold! These two were amazing though, and really stuck it out. We knew we had to take advantage of the weather clearing while we had it.

On to this beautiful location…I know I say it often, but I really do love it when my couples choose a sentimental location, or idea behind their engagement session. Kayla and Craig chose to incorporate his family’s farms into their shoot. We spent a little time at both his grandparents, and parents farms, and it was truly so beautiful. I was swept away by the gorgeous old stone, and the way the light was shining perfectly through the trees. Winter can be pretty cold and dreary, but on days like the one we had, it was just breathtaking! Looking forward to their wedding this year! Enjoy a little bit of the beauty we captured that day! :)

p.s. If you make it all the way until the end, you’ll see one of the cutest pups ever, getting in on the celebration! ;)

2018 Year in Review by Lia Giannotti Photography

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!

Ok, ok, I know I say it every year, but THIS WILL BE THE YEAR I START BLOGGING CONSISTENTLY! There, I just put it into the universe, so I have to do it. Honestly though, I always have the best of intentions, and I’m always aware that I have to blog more, but in the midst of shooting, editing, delivering galleries, office end, etc, etc, it gets put on the back burner. So this year, I promise you, it’s getting written into my calendar, and I’m holding myself accountable. So stay tuned for wedding and engagement magic hitting the blog this year!

The other day, New Year’s Eve to be exact, I sat down at my desk and spent countless hours trying to pull images from all of this past years weddings and engagements. It was no small feat! Of course I had way too many photos, and couldn’t possibly include all of my favorites, but I was able to pull some gems from each into this video. If an entire year can be put into a few short minute clip, I suppose this is it. However, it doesn’t nearly cover all the emotions I’ve felt being able to capture these moments.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone for their support, in trusting me to capture some of the biggest moments of your lives this past year. Because of you, I was able to do what I'm truly passionate about, and that's capturing these fleeting moments in time, so that they live on forever. The happiness, joy, laughter, tears, and every single emotion in between is what I'm driven to capture. I want you to FEEL and not just see these photos. The friendships and relationships formed along the way are just the icing on the cake, and I value each one of you. I am forever grateful to you, and excited to see what 2019 brings. I wish you all the very best in 2019! I hope you enjoy what I put together! xo, Lia

Jordan + Claire // The Arb, Ann Arbor Engagement Session

With Jordan + Claire's wedding weekend coming up, I thought it would be fun to feature some of their engagement session photos up on the blog today. I met Claire early last year, when I photographed her brother and sister-in-laws Detroit wedding. She was a bridesmaid in their wedding, and we instantly connected. I can't tell you how thrilled I was when she contacted me a few months later, newly engaged, and ready to start planning her own wedding!

I met up with Jordan + Claire on a summer morning, at Nichols Arboretum, the location of their first date. Being that this spot was sentimental to them both, I thought it would be the perfect location for their session. All the while it was fun reminiscing about their first date, and they shared stories of their adventure in The Arb. Afterwards we strolled through some their favorite spots in Ann Arbor, around U of M's campus, which is also sentimental, to Claire and her family especially. I'm so looking forward to their wedding day, and capturing even more of Claire's infectious laugh and smile, that Jordan brings out in her in such a perfect way. They are the sweetest couple, and I know their wedding day will be just as amazing. Stay tuned to my facebook page to catch their sneak preview following the wedding. Enjoy! :)

Lindsey + Ron // An Ann Arbor, Michigan Fall Engagement Session

It's happening. The weather has cooled down considerably and fall is in the air! Even though it's not officially fall yet, Mother Nature has her own set of plans, and the colors are changing faster than ever! Every year around this time, I get nostalgic. Out of no where I start to remember all of the fall sessions I had the year prior, and start to anticipate the sessions coming in. I met with Lindsey + Ron on a beautiful, fall day in Ann Arbor last year. Everything about that day was perfect. The weather, the temperature, the colors were all on point. There's something truly magical about this time of year here in Michigan. Engagement sessions are great, because it allows me to really get to know my couples, and vice versa. After being together for many years, they're both right where they want to be, and have hit this huge milestone in their lives. Be sure to scroll through for a glimpse at Lindsey's humor about it. ;)

Since this weekend is their wedding weekend, and honestly, who would have thought we would have this much fall color already, I thought it only fitting to showcase their engagement session. Stay tuned to my facebook page Lia Giannotti Photography, to check out their wedding sneak preview coming soon! Happy early fall everyone! <3

The Morning after the Big Day // Adventures in Punta Cana, a Caribbean Wedding

A few weeks ago I blogged Patrick + Lisa's Caribbean, Punta Cana destination wedding. If you missed it, you can check it out by clicking here.  On our first day on the island, we were walking along the beach discussing the wedding day, and we came across this abandoned hacienda tucked far back, behind a forest of palm trees.  The estate and surrounding property had never finished being built. It was pretty fantastic, and literally, stopped us in our tracks. At this point, we knew we had to do a photo shoot there, so the morning after the wedding, we took a field trip back to this jaw dropping estate, and had a fun little session. I wish I could take home the amazing "palm tree forest" located on the property. It was like nothing I had ever seen in all my travels. I hope you enjoy this little bit of paradise! I most definitely have to head back here someday. It was just too good!!
